Technique Tuesday: Long Step Pass




Atos brown belt John Meno demonstrates the long step pass with the help of the one and only “JT” Torres.



Step 1: Establish a good base


Step 2: Break your opponent’s grip on your collar

Step 3: Grip your opponent’s collar and pant leg and lean, putting the same side elbow and knee on mat as if you were going to drop your hip to the mat


Step 4: Back step with the other leg


Step 5: Reestablish a good base by getting in to a tripod position


Step 6: Connect your hip to your opponent’s and walk back until you’ve controlled their movement


Step 7: Establish side control
