Most of the time when we think of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu we think of how it improves self-defense, health, and athleticism, however, these are not the only benefits of BJJ. There are many things Brazilian Jiu Jitsu will teach kids that they can take with them and apply off the mats.

Confidence
BJJ will teach kids confidence by giving them the tools they need to defend themselves if a bullying situation should arise. It also gives them confidence in their own strength and abilities. BJJ will teach them that if they work hard and they focus they can improve their techniques, which will give them a big confidence boost. Their professors encouragement and leadership will go a long way, but the confidence they gain will reach beyond the mat into their daily lives.
Character Development
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu will instill key traits for character development such as: honor, respect, humility, discipline, and perseverance. Kids will learn good sportsmanship and discipline while expending excess energy in a constructive way. These traits will extend into their life off the mat, and into adult hood.
Inclusion- ADD/ADHD and Autism
A complex activity such Brazilian Jiu Jitsu has been shown to help strengthen neural networks in the brain, which helps kids with ADD/ADHD practice self-control and gain confidence. The way BJJ classes are structured, combined with the physical activity, can also help kids struggling with ADD/ADHD and autism to develop organizational skills, mental control, and self-regulation.
