Silva Defeated Brunson UFC 208

Silva defeated Brunson via unanimous decision in Saturday’s co-main event at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, giving “The Spider” his first true Octagon triumph since October 2012. While judges Sal D’Amato, Chris Lee and Jeff Mullen all submitted 48-47 scorecards in favor of the Brazilian star.
“I think I win the [first] two rounds. The last round I don’t think so,” Silva said at the post-fight press conference. “But that’s a good question for the judges because I defended takedowns. The last round, my opponent put me on the ground, but I attacked more.”

Brunson, who has lost two straight following a five-bout winning streak, disagreed with both Silva’s and the cageside judges’ assessment of the fight.

“Everyone is telling me that I won. I feel terrible. It’s not Anderson’s fault or the UFC’s fault. I took this fight on short notice and, to have this happen, is just crazy to me,” Brunson said. “I take this seriously. This is my job. I put everything into this and I got robbed. It sucks.”

“I’m old. I’m very old,” he said. “One of the guys said, ‘You’re too old.’ But I have a lot of experience. I have perfect time. This is more important.” – Said the GOAT while cracking in jokes about his age (41).

While his skills might not be what they once were, Silva still has confidence in himself, despite the self-deprecating comments regarding his age.

“I’m just waiting for my next challenge inside the cage. But now, I need to rest a little bit. I’m old.” Finished the Spider.
