Families who train Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

Our family spotlight this week is on Chad and Veronica Hamzeh and their two children, Zahara and Arianna, who have been members at Atos for about three years now.  Both their children started training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu at Atos around 4 years old.

Why did you choose to train at Atos?

According to Veronica it was Professor Andre Galvao that initially drew them into Atos.  They knew he was one of the best Brazilian Jiu Jitsu athletes in the world, and the slew of other big names such as Keenan, JT, and Liera also played a big part in their final decision.  It is their goal to eventually become black belts under Andre and Angelica Galvao.

What made you want your kids to start training as well?

Initially Chad and Veronica wanted their kids to participate to make them more disciplined and confident.  Veronica noticed a huge difference particularly in Zahara who was initially very quiet, and needed to come out of her shell a bit.  Veronica says that after Zahara started training BJJ she gained so much confidence.  When she goes against a boy and does well it just instills that confidence and strength she has as a girl, which is so important.

What is your favorite part about training at Atos?

For Veronica training at Atos is a huge stress reliever.  When she is training it is her time to relax and forget about all the stress of daily life, and owning a business.  She enjoys being able to have the whole family come and train.  It doesn’t matter if you are male or female, young or old Jiu Jitsu is for everyone.  The whole family can get involved and support each other in training, and in competition.
