A statement from our leader and 5x Black Belt World Champion, Professor Andre Galvao:
“Depois da 22ª edição do campeonato mundial de jiu-jitsu, nosso time Atos Jiujitsu tornou-se o melhor time do mundo, através de muito trabalho, dedicação e suor, conquistamos a vitória histórica, destronando a maior serie consecutiva de vitórias de uma equipe nesse campeonato, vencemos a Alliance que tem a minha admiração fazendo sempre um grande trabalho desde a primeira edição do campeonato mundial em 1996. Continuaremos o nosso trabalho, que não será nada fácil, a dedicação de cada membro de nossa equipe será fundamental para nos mantermos no topo. Sempre acreditamos em nosso trabalho e nossa dedicação ao esporte desde o início, juntamente com o Professor Ramon Lemos. Trabalhamos muito duro, trabalho em equipe, e desta vez conseguimos mais este feito. Nossa equipe vem crescendo a cada ano, mas este ano foi um ano muito especial para todos nós, o nosso primeiro título mundial e o reconhecimento de que nosso trabalho é o melhor do mundo, chegou. Dominamos o campeonato mundial do início ao fim, desde os primeiros dias de competição com os faixas azul e roxa, até o final com os nossos faixas marrom e preta, temos grande orgulho de cada guerreiro que estavam ali dando o melhor para nosso time com muito coração, excelente nível técnico, representando nossa equipe da melhor forma, todos ali presentes: professores, alunos, instrutores e familiares de cada atleta lutando juntos, cada um dando sempre o seu melhor ajudando o nosso time ir ao lugar mais alto do pódio mundial.
Nossa equipe – Atos Jiujitsu vem fazendo um excelente trabalho nos últimos anos, batemos na trave algumas vezes, mas sempre acreditando que poderíamos chegar. Somos a primeira equipe campeão mundial com base nos EUA, vencemos o Pan este ano, vencemos o Campeonato Asiático, 3x campeã mundial Sem Kimono, somos 5x campeã do Pan Kids (Mundial Infantil), vencemos 2x o mundial na categoria Juvenil – que é o futuro da equipe. Estamos batendo records, somos a equipe que fez mais campeões de ADCC nos últimos anos.
Este Camp foi muito especial, aprendemos muito como professores, inovamos, estudamos e colocamos tudo em pratica da melhor maneira para alcançarmos o nosso objetivo. Eu decidi ir ao campo de batalha junto com nossos atletas e alunos, foi uma decisão muito difícil, pois sabia a importância do coach no lado de fora, por isso fiquei lá todos os dias, estava presente no momento de cada vitória de nossos alunos, de branca a preta. Foi exaustivo mas estava feliz, muito motivado, e a vitória de cada um me dava ainda mais motivação para lutar e vencer. Acredito que Deus preparou este caminho e me fez pensar assim. Eu servi os meus alunos da melhor maneira possível sem pensar que eu poderia ficar morto de cansado pra lutar, pois sei que Deus daria o tempo certo de descanso, estava consciente que eu estava pronto e preparado pra dar o melhor a minha equipe dentro e fora do tatame. Não estava pensando em meu quinto título mundial e sim na equipe, este era o meu maior foco. O resultado não poderia ser melhor.
Uma das peças fundamentais para que este título viesse foi a minha esposa (Prof Angelica Galvao), ela estava por traz de tudo desde cuidar dos atletas, nos ajudando em muita coisa durante o campeonato, até mesmo na confirmação da checagem de nosso time, decidindo não lutar este ano focando na equipe, nos ajudando na realização de um sonho. Os professores Rafael e Guilherme Mendes que tomaram a decisão de não lutarem mais neste momento, sabendo da importância do título mundial por equipe, acreditando sempre que essa era a melhor decisão para a equipe, foi o momento certo. Calculamos e analisamos tudo da melhor forma, para que o time chegasse ao topo. Professor Guto Campos que também decidiu não lutar este mundial focando nos alunos e na equipe em geral, como sempre formando grandes campeões com o seu excelente trabalho na região sul do Brasil. Professores Caio e Diogo Almeida que adicionaram bastante a nossa equipe com um excelente trabalho social em São Paulo – Brasil, ajudando a comunidade e formando campeões dentro e fora do tatame.
Foi emocionante ver nossos alunos lutando, defendendo nossa bandeira na categoria e no absoluto de cada faixa.
O resultado é consequência de muita dedicação, disciplina, foco e trabalho em equipe. Lutamos juntos, crescemos juntos e conquistamos juntos.
Agradeço a Deus por cada luta, cada vitória, cada momento, cada batalha dentro e fora do tatame. Me emocionei muito com tudo, entendendo que Ele abençoou nossa família, nosso time de uma forma especial.
Obrigado a toda família Atos Jiujitsu pelo amor carinho e dedicação ao nosso time, sempre estarei lá lutando por cada um de vocês. Não paramos por aqui, este é o início de um desafio, o início de um sonho, darei o meu máximo a cada um de vocês.

After the 22nd edition of the Jiu Jitsu Worlds Championship by IBJJF, our team Atos Jiu Jitsu became the best Jiu Jitsu team in the world. It took a lot of hard work, dedication and sweat. We conquered a historical victory, dethroning the biggest series of consecutive victories of a team in this championship. We defeated Alliance, a team that has my admiration for always doing great work even since the very first edition of the Worlds Championship in 1996. We will continue our work, which will not be an easy task, the dedication of each member of our team will be fundamental to keeping us on top. We always believed in our work and our dedication to the sport since the beginning, together with Prof. Ramon. We work very hard as a team, and we will continue doing it. Our team is growing every year, but this year was a very special year for us, we got our first Adult Male World title and the recognition that our work is the best in the world. We dominated the Worlds Championship from the very beginning to the end, since the first day of the competition with our blue and purple belts, until the end with the our brown and black belts. I’m so proud of each Atos warrior that was there giving their best to the team with a lot of heart, an excellent technical level, representing our team in the best way. All of you guys: teachers, students, instructors, staff and parents of each athlete fighting together, always giving your best and helping the team to achieve the highest place on the podium. Our team – Atos JJ has been doing an excellent job in the last couple years, we almost got this title a couple of times. We always believed the big day would come, and it did.
We are the first World Champions with our Headquarters based in USA (out of Brazil). This year we won Pans and the Asian Open; we are also 3x No Gi World Champions, 5x Pan Kids Champion (World Championship for Kids from 3 to 15 years old), 2x Juvenile World Champions – that is the future of our team. We are breaking records, we are a team that did more ADCC World Titles (Champions).
This camp was a very special camp, we learned a lot as professors, and we are always innovating. We studied and got every aspect of training working together in order to find the best way to achieve our goal. I decided to get in the battle field together with our athletes and students, it was a tough decision, because I knew the importance of the coach in each match, because of this I was there every single day coaching the students, and I was present at all times and in every single victory of our team, from white to black. I got extremely exhausted but happy, and very motivated. The victory of each one gave me even more motivation to fight and win. I believe God prepared this path and He made me think this way: “I will serve the students/team with my very best without thinking about that I could get really tired or ‘dead’ to fight/compete”. I knew that God would give me the right time and moment to rest, knowing that I was ready and well prepared to give my best to our team on and off the mats. I wasn’t worry or thinking about my fifth World Title as Black Belt, I was thinking about the Team, that was the biggest focus. The result couldn’t be better.
My wife (Prof. Angelica Galvão) was also very important for the team, she was behind everything by taking care of the athletes, and helping them in any way she could, and doing other things during the Championship. All of this helped to make this dream into a reality. Professors Rafael and Guilherme Mendes, decided to no longer compete, knowing the importance of this title to our team, believing that this was the best decision for the team and their career. We calculated and analyzed everything with precision, and that’s why the team achieved the top. Professor Guto Campos also decided not to compete in order to focus on the students and Atos JJ team in general. As always Guto is still making champions with his excellent work in Brazil. Professors Caio & Diogo Almeida added to our team and did an excellent job with a Social Project in Brazil by helping the community and forming champions on and off the mats. I was super excited to see our athletes fighting, defending our flag in the weight division and absolute of each belt. The result is consequence of a lot dedication, discipline, focus, and hard work as a team. We fight together, grow together, and together we conquer. I thank God for every fight in life and jiujitsu, and for each victory. I got very happy but also emotional with everything, understanding that God blessed our family, and our team in a very special way. Thank you to the Atos family for the love and dedication to our team, I will always be there fighting for all of you guys. We won’t stop here, this is just the beginning of a challenge, and of a big dream. I will give my maximum to each one of you. I’m so happy, and the best feeling is knowing that we all fight together and we won this together, always guarding our faith, that brought us to the highest place of the Jiu Jitsu World. Congratulations to the entire Atos family!!! We are the best team in the world, this is amazing!
