Atos HQ 2017 Highlights

January

Europeans marks the first major event of the year, and as always Atos Jiu Jitsu had a great showing!  As a team Atos won 3rd place for the Adult Women, and 2nd place for the Juveniles.  Three of Atos HQ’s own (Andris Brunovsksi, Dominique Bell, and Heather Raftery) took the long journey to Lisbon to take part in this prestigious event, and came back with 1 gold and 2 bronze.

February

In February Atos Jiu Jitsu swept the IBJJF Kids Pan Ams event yet again with our fifth consecutive team title.  Atos HQ brought home 10 gold medals out of 31 gold medals in total.  Kid’s Pans is the most prestigious event for youths ranging from grey/white to green belt.  Collectively team Atos amassed a whopping 376 points, which was over one hundred points more than the second place team.  It’s no secret that Atos Jiu Jitsu has been quietly putting together the most elite team of kids, teens, and juveniles in the sport presently, and our performance this past year serves as proof of our outstanding team of children and youth.

March

Atos followed up the success at Pan Kids by also winning the adult male and juvenile team trophies at the 2017 Pan Jiu-Jitsu IBJJF Championship.  The team worked hard and it was evident at the Pan Championship that everyone was sharp and ready to go.

June

We have known for a long time that we are the best team in the world, and in June we got the trophy to prove it.  Atos Jiu Jitsu took the adult male team world title, making history at the same time by breaking Alliance’s 10 year winning streak.  Our leader, Prof. Andre Galvao, also won his 5th black belt world title.  We are the best team in the world!

September

After Worlds it was on to conquer ADCC.  Prof. Galvao, along with a number of our other outstanding Atos competitors, began a grueling camp to prep for ADCC.  Prof. Galvao made history by winning his 5th ADCC title.  He will return in 2019 to defend his title once again against Felipe Pena.  JT Torres also had a fantastic performance at ADCC.  He won the -77kg weight class, becoming the first American to ever win this division.

December

We topped the year off by winning our fourth consecutive No Gi World Adult Male team title.  We are not only the best team in the world for gi, but for no-gi as well!  The team pulled together as one unit the entire year, and we are so proud of all of you.

Everyone worked extremely hard this year, and these accomplishments are a result of that.  We couldn’t of had such a successful year without the help of every single member in the academy.  Every person in the gym played a roll in the success of our team, and we are so proud of everyone.  2017 was an awesome year, and now it’s time to make 2018 even better!

Together we are stronger!
