Fifteen Atos Athletes Rep At F2W

Fight 2 Win 183 is the first major grappling event in California in almost two years. Fifteen Atos athletes will compete to represent tomorrow, September 10 at the Sheraton in San Diego. Here are just a few of the matches you don’t want to miss:

Josh Hinger vs Corey Guitard

Despite being a last minute addition to the card Josh Hinger comes in as the -500 favorite in his match against 10th Planet black belt, Corey Guitard. Josh’s style is well known within grappling: collar ties, single legs, and Hingertines. When you’re a master at what you do it doesn’t matter who knows it. And, although Josh’s go-tos are well known he is not limited. According to BJJ Fanatics 68% of his victories have come by way of submission ranging from guillotines, to heel hooks, reverse triangles, and more. So, anything is possible tomorrow night.

Dom Bell vs Gabriel Almeida

Previously, Dom Bell was scheduled to face the Xande Ribeiro in the main event. Unfortunately, Xande had to withdraw from the competition, and has been replaced with Gabriel Almeida.

Although, Dom and Gabriel have frequented the same division in IBJJF tournaments they have yet to face off at the black belt level. Gabriel Almeida has been flirting with the no-gi scene with aspirations in ADCC and Who’s Number One. We have seen his wrestling evolve through his competition in these formats. In addition to being a BJJ black belt, Dom recently earned his judo black belt. An accomplishment that has most of his opponents quickly pulling guard. Gabriel’s confidence on his feet, paired with the sub-only-no-points ruleset, may be enough for a wrestling versus judo show.

Lucas Pinheiro vs Carlos Oliveira

#1 ranked Lucas Pinheiro will face off with Pedro Dias. If you’ve trained with Lucas you’re likely familiar with his crushing pressure. Lucas’ style is that of a true technician. We will likely see him looking to control the match as he uses his timely explosivity, indomitable control, and saavy technique to progress the match until he finds the finish.

More matches to catch:

  • Nikki Sullivan faces Sophia Nordeno once again. Be on the look out for technical leg entanglements as they continue their saga.
  • Fellipe Trovo takes on Fellipe Andrew in a no-gi event.
  • Michael Liera Jr. returns to San Diego to join the card against Jackson Nagai for the belt.
