Mike Perez’s performance last weekend at the ADCC West Coast Trials was really like watching a David Vs. Goliath moment.
Mike competed in the +99KG division…
And despite weighing about twenty kilos less than his opponents in the division… 😅
The ADCC veteran (who beat Gordon Ryan back in 2015 at the ADCC North American Trials) has now secured his ticket for this year’s ADCC in August.
Along with about eight other Atos athletes (more are likely to receive an invitation) – which includes Tye and Kade Ruotolo, Kaynan Duarte, Lucas Barbosa and Rafaela Guedes.
Something Mike said in a post-fight interview with FloGrappling made me laugh…
One of the main reasons he went into the heavy divsiion n was so he wouldn’t be in the same division as other Atos athletes:
“I’m a natural big brother. All my boys and all my teammates do the lighter divisions and I don’t want to rob them of their glory. I know I can beat these big boys… I’m just going to beef up and take these guys out”
😅😂
THIS is the champion mindset.
It’s very hard to beat someone who knows how unbeatable they are.
