Andy Murasaki represented Atos Jiu-Jitsu at BJJ Stars this weekend.
He had a great super fight against a super tough opponent, Pedro Maiaβ¦
(Pedro Maia won the Brazilian Nationals this year, and got third place at Worlds in the Lightweight division.)
Andy had an incredible performance against Maia, dominating the whole fight.
Andy started the fight with a very incredible sweep β basically just a regular scissor sweep, but executed at the highest level.
βThis proves that the basics can work β even against high-level black belts.β
After Andy swept his opponent, Maia bounced back and Andy pulled guard.
From there, he did the De La Riva control with the sleeve, then he hit a second sweep.
After that, Maia tried to stand up, but Andy kept him down.
By the end of the fight, Andy was going towards the back, but then the match ended (BJJ Starts super fights are short β seven minutes)
It was an incredible fight with lots of movement.
Andy won by 2 points (beautiful pant and sleeve DLR sweep) and 4 advantages:
One sweep attempt, one guard pass attempt and two back take attempts. Andy dominated his opponent from all angles (top and bottom).
β
I would like to shout out to Fepa Lopez (Fernando Lopez) for organizing the event and for everything he does for the Jiu-Jitsu community.
Very soon, BJJ Stars will be sponsored by a huge bank corporation from Brazil.
You guys will see another phase of incredible growth in this sport β starting in Brazil π₯
