The energy was electric at the IBJJF Crown in Long Beach, CA this weekend.
Andy Murasaki π claimed the Crown in the Middleweight division:
Andy was set to face Tainan Dalpra in the finals, but unfortunately Tainan had to withdraw due to injury.
Gustavo Batista π₯ battled his way to the Heavyweight finals, including a first-round submission victory.
Unfortunately Batista fell to Adam Wardzinski in the finals by an advantage.
JoΓ£o “Bisnaga” Mendes π₯ made a statement in the Featherweight division.
JoΓ£oβs run to the finals was unforgettable. He defeated Kennedy Maciel for the first time in five encounters. Then he took out Worlds Silver Medalist Ademir Barreto.
He fell short against Diego Pato in the final, but showed the true heart of a champion throughout.
Gabi McComb π₯ stepped up on short notice to compete in the Lightweight division (to replace Luiza Monteira)
She earned her bronze medal with some incredible performances against tough opponents.
She won her first match by points, lost the semifinals to the champion (Brianna Ste-Marie) and won her third-place match (by points) against Cassia Moura.
Pedro Machado π₯ showcased his skill in the Super-Heavyweight division, winning by armbar in the opening round and finishing third after a hard-fought semifinal match against Erich Munis.
