This year the Jiu-Jitsu Mundial turned 30.
The biggest Gi tournament of the year in the Walter Pyramid, Long Beach. And Atos showed up strong.
Lilly Marchand
Let me start with Lilly.
Black belt world champion. At only 19, she is already a 2x world champion: Gi and No-Gi.
She came to Atos when she was 9 years old. She traveled to train with us when she was just a kid. Her parents made so many sacrifices.
Her work ethic, her discipline and her commitment are outstanding.
Now look at her. She teaches our kids program and she’s a Black Belt World Champion.
Keep shining, Lilly.
Sarah Galvao
Sarah fought for the world title at Black Belt. She’s 19 years old. Just one year as a Black Belt.
In that one year she had 60 fights. 56 wins. Only 4 losses.
She faced 6 Black Belt World Champions and never backed down. She never hid from the absolute… even as a lightweight.
This time she came home with silver.
But for me, she has been a champion for a long time.
She shows up 100% every time. She never picks the easy road. She gives her best with a smile on her face and a humble heart.
That’s what a true champion looks like.
The World titles will come. This is only the beginning.
World Champions Crowned
Natã Tenca: Brown Belt ultra-heavyweight World Champion. Every single match won by submission. And right there on the podium, we tied his Black Belt around his waist. Welcome to the next chapter, Tenca.
India Risby: Purple Belt World Champion. Now we’re going to see what she can do at Brown Belt 👀
Emily Leyva: World Champion at Brown Belt, plus bronze in the open class against bigger opponents. And she earned her Black Belt too.
Maria Eduarda: Purple Belt rooster World Champion. She won the final 14-0.
Brendo Rozendo: Blue Belt World Champion. He finished the final with a triangle. 6 fights, 4 submissions.

And so many more on the podium

- Nikolas Ferreira: Purple Belt silver

This is why I do it
This is what makes me emotional. I cry. I celebrate.
I feel every one of these journeys.
Win or lose, we learn.
Winning is beautiful. But learning to deal with defeat is what builds the heart of a true champion.
I trained hard my whole life. I helped build champions. Today I still give my maximum to help form champions better than I ever was.
This is what God called me to do. And I will never stop.
Thank you to my team and to the families who sacrifice so much.
We are writing this story together.
Oss,
Andre
P.S. Want to learn the same Jiu-Jitsu that built these champions? Every week we film our real classes at Atos HQ and put them on Atos BJJ On Demand — the same details, the same system, taught the same way.
